Baby Shower #2

Saturday, May 31, 2014

I literally have the best co-workers ever. On Tuesday May 27th, my good friend (and work wife!) Ashley threw me the cutest baby shower so all my co-workers could celebrate baby girl! She worked so hard on putting it all together and it couldn't have been more perfect. It was at one of my favorite places to eat, The Living Room, in Chandler which turned out to be the perfect place to have it. We had our little area in the back blocked off and munched on appetizers and sangria. I was pretty obsessed with the decorations since they all matched baby girl's nursery. Light pinks, white, gold, and black/white stripes! Adorable.

My co-workers totally spoiled baby girl. We got tons of clothes, diapers, and other baby goodies!

We couldn't be more grateful! I really can't thank Ashley, and the rest of my co-workers enough for throwing us such a fun shower. We really do appreciate all the love and support we've received and I think we're officially ready to have baby girl!

37 weeks

Thursday, May 29, 2014

How far along: 37 weeks
Size: Watermelon...but a small one ;)
Gender: Girl
Fun Fact: We had another growth scan/BPP yesterday morning and she's measuring 5lbs 13oz which is still only in the 17th percentile. She was sucking her thumb though which was pretty cool to see :)
Symptoms: Lots of BH contractions. I'm ready to feel the real stuff!
Weight Gain: 25 lbs.
Maternity clothes: If I never wear a maxi skirt again, I'll be pretty damn happy.
Stretch marks: Nope
Belly button in or out: Hangin out there
Sleep: I've mainly been trying to sleep just on my left side since blood flow to the placenta is better that way but after awhile my hip starts to hurt so I have to turn to my right side for a bit. It'll be nice to not have to worry about what my sleep position is.
Best moment this week: My good friend from work threw me a work baby shower this week and it was so so fun. She worked really hard on all the decorations, it was a-dor-a-ble. I'm so grateful to work with such amazing friends, baby E is so spoiled already!
Worst moment this week: Well, we were thinking I'd be induced yesterday due to baby girl's fall off the growth curve from last week. My ultrasound yesterday shows she's still off the growth curve but it's not a huge drop from last week so my doctor said we'll do NST's twice a week, another growth scan Monday, and I'll see her Tuesday for another cervical check (and hopefully a plan to induce!?) I never thought I'd want to be induced but it makes me nervous knowing her growth is less and less each week. I just want her out so I can feed her and make sure she's OK! All this talk about being induced, then deciding not to and waiting another week, has had my emotions all over the place. I'm officially on maternity leave but now think maybe I should go work a couple more shifts so my PTO doesn't completely run out. I just don't think I'm in a good mind set to work 12 hour days at this point. I might as well rest this week, for my sake and baby girl's.
Miss anything: Fitting into normal clothes, being able to walk around without getting short of breath or BH contractions, and a glass of wine while sitting on the patio.
Movement: She's definately a mover. I've actually been able to see my belly pulsating these last couple weeks. It's her breathing. So crazy to see, it freaks Ken out!
Cravings: Waffles, always my comfort food.
Queasy or sick: No
Looking forward to: Next week! We're ready for you E!

36 weeks

Friday, May 23, 2014

How far along: 36 weeks
Size: Honeydew
Gender: Confirmed today she is still 100% GIRL!
Fun Fact: She's measuring 5lbs 5oz on the ultrasound! She's actually fallen off her growth curve. She went from being in the 30th percentile down to 18th percentile :/ She's going to be a little peanut! And make her debut sooner than expected :)
Symptoms: Exhaustion, tired feet, an even bigger belly, and lots of Braxton Hicks contractions in the afternoons and evenings
Weight Gain: 25 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Yea, I had to go buy even bigger maternity tops cause my others are too small and tight. I remember in the beginning of pregnancy I was so excited to get to wear maternity clothes and sport a baby bump. Now I can't wait to wear my normal clothes and go shopping at my fav stores again! I see many shopping trips with baby girl this summer :)
Stretch marks: Nope
Belly button in or out: Oh it's out and lookin funny. I've even tried "flattening" it out by putting a band-aid over top of it...ya doesn't work anymore.
Sleep: Not too bad this week. Still using lots of pillows and turning from side to side several times a night.
Best moment this week: Seeing baby girl on the ultrasound this week! Always makes me so excited to see her and knowing she'll be here so soon!
Worst moment this week: Long 12 hour days at work suuuuuck. Thank god for my amazing husband. He cleans, cooks, does laundry, etc. It is SO nice to come home after a 12 hour shift, exhausted, and have candles lit and dinner on the table waiting for me. Jealous huh? Well, you should be ;)
We also found out this week that baby girl just isn't growing like she should be and my doctor's thinking about inducing me next week! With her drop off the growth curve, it'll be safer for her to be on the outside rather than inside. So after my growth scan next Wednesday we'll most likely be headed to the hospital for induction! My doctor said she was "99% sure we'll be headed to the hospital" and to "come with our bags packed". That sounds pretty sure to me. I'll atleast be considered full-term then at 37 weeks. I know she'll be little, and I know the complications associated with that (damn postpartum nurse brain), but I just keep praying that she'll come out healthy and thriving! It was quite a shock when we found all this out the other day but I've come to accept it and now I'm getting very excited that I could be meeting my little girl in just a few short days!
Miss anything: Laying on my stomach and back
Movement: Yep! Her little legs and feet are still off to my right side and kick all the time. Her booty is still near my belly button and head down. I had an NST this morning to make sure she's moving OK and she's getting enough oxygen and everything went well! Phew.
Cravings: Nothing in particular. Still loving everything bad for me!
Queasy or sick: Nope
Looking forward to: My amazing co-workers are throwing me a baby shower next week so I'm pretty stoked for that and of course, baby girl's arrival! Eeeek!

Baby Shower

Saturday, May 17, 2014

On Saturday April 26th, my mom and one of my best friends, Sarah, threw me and baby girl a baby shower! I think one of the most exciting things in pregnancy is your baby shower. All your friends and family get to see you, your new bump, and help you celebrate being a new mama. Plus you usually get lots of great stuff for the baby which is super fun and exciting! It makes the whole thing feel so much more real.

It was so so sweet of my mom and Sarah to put the shower together. They decided have a "book theme" where instead of a card, guests could bring baby girl a book they loved as a kid.  They even sent out little book plate stickers with the invites so guests could write a little message to the baby saying why that book was special to them.  All the decoration and food had a "book" theme to it as well. They worked so hard on everything and despite some bad weather that forced us all inside, it turned out to be super cute. It was perfect!

Ken and I appreciate it so much and can't thank you guys enough! Love you both. We received so much great stuff for baby girl. It took all day to open everything and organize it all in her room which was a bit overwhelming but felt so good to do. I think we're ready for her to be here any day now!

Thank you again to all our friends and family who gave gifts, books, and came to the shower. We are so grateful to have so many amazing people think about us during this very special time in our lives!

And here's one more of Ken with baby Addison...doesn't he look so cute holding a baby girl!? Ah, I just love it and cannot wait for our baby girl to get here!
