Baby Shower

Saturday, May 17, 2014

On Saturday April 26th, my mom and one of my best friends, Sarah, threw me and baby girl a baby shower! I think one of the most exciting things in pregnancy is your baby shower. All your friends and family get to see you, your new bump, and help you celebrate being a new mama. Plus you usually get lots of great stuff for the baby which is super fun and exciting! It makes the whole thing feel so much more real.

It was so so sweet of my mom and Sarah to put the shower together. They decided have a "book theme" where instead of a card, guests could bring baby girl a book they loved as a kid.  They even sent out little book plate stickers with the invites so guests could write a little message to the baby saying why that book was special to them.  All the decoration and food had a "book" theme to it as well. They worked so hard on everything and despite some bad weather that forced us all inside, it turned out to be super cute. It was perfect!

Ken and I appreciate it so much and can't thank you guys enough! Love you both. We received so much great stuff for baby girl. It took all day to open everything and organize it all in her room which was a bit overwhelming but felt so good to do. I think we're ready for her to be here any day now!

Thank you again to all our friends and family who gave gifts, books, and came to the shower. We are so grateful to have so many amazing people think about us during this very special time in our lives!

And here's one more of Ken with baby Addison...doesn't he look so cute holding a baby girl!? Ah, I just love it and cannot wait for our baby girl to get here!

34 weeks

Monday, May 12, 2014

How far along: 34 weeks
Size: A small pumpkin
Gender: Girl
Symptoms: Pressure pressure pressure! It literally feels as though I've been riding a horse for hours and hours. Lots of ligament pain that I'm hoping my body gets used to and eases up a bit. It makes me nervous knowing that she's just going to keep getting lower and lower and putting more pressure there, ahh. I've officially began to waddle because of it.  At least she's worth it!
Maternity clothes: Yup
Stretch marks: No
Belly button in or out: The top is still just out. I don't think it's going to change much.
Sleep: Blah, sleep. I have no problem falling asleep but staying asleep is a challenge. I still wake up around 1am and sometimes lay there for a few hours trying to get comfortable. Turning from side to side in bed has been painful due to this new ligament pain I've been having.
Best moment this week: I had four days off work last weekend and it was glorious. Got to spend some quality time with my hubby poolside and soak in lots of sunshine. And this weekend I'm off work for another four days which makes me super excited! I also packed a hospital bag this week juuuuust in case. I like to be over prepared. Ken thinks I'm a little nuts since we still could have 6 weeks or so to go.
Worst moment this week: My new symptoms.
Miss anything: A cold beer while laying in the pool
Movement: Yep, best feeling ever
Cravings: Anything bad for me!
Queasy or sick: Nope
Looking forward to: Celebrating my first Mother's Day this weekend! I remember when going through fertility treatments thinking I might never get to experience motherhood so now being able to say that I am going to be a mama makes me happier than I ever thought I could be!

Maternity Pictures

Sunday, May 4, 2014

Even before we were pregnant, we knew we wanted to have a maternity photo session done to help remember this special time in our lives (and to remember what the bump looked like!) So when I was 30 weeks pregnant, we had Jasmine from Jasmine Amber Photography shoot the session. She was also our engagement/wedding photographer and does amazing photo shoots. We're so happy with the way they turned out! Here's a few of our favorites...

33 weeks

Friday, May 2, 2014

How far along: 33 weeks
Size: A pineapple! Yum!
Gender: Girl
Fun Fact: She can tell the difference between day and night and will gain around 1/2 pound per week until she's born
Weight Gain: 23 lbs
Symptoms: Sleepy in the afternoons, some swelling to my legs after work, and more Braxton Hicks. This may be TMI but I've also had more pressure down there..
Maternity clothes: Still yes and no. Still rockin the maxi skirts and sleep shirts quite a bit. I'm so excited to finally be able to wear normal pants/shorts within the next couple months (I hope!)
Stretch marks: Nada
Belly button in or out: Out
Sleep: Sleep was a little better this week.
Best moment this week: My baby shower last weekend was pretty amazing! We got a ton of great stuff and some super cute clothes. We're so grateful for all our friends and family who have totally spoiled (already) this little girl! Now to write 29323984729 thank you cards..
Worst moment this week: My dad called yesterday saying my grandpa was most likely going to pass away in the next day or two. He's 95 years old, has had a long fulfilled life and is now surrounded by family that he loves so I know he's in a peaceful place. Still makes me sad though, especially for my grandma. They're 67th wedding anniversary will be this Tuesday May 6th...that's right, 67th!
Miss anything: My dad & seeeester! Both plan to visit this August and I cannot wait to see them with baby girl :)
Movement: She's moving all the time! It's so much more fun to watch my belly move side to side than to watch anything on the TV.
Cravings: Carbs.
Queasy or sick: Nope
Looking forward to: Finishing up last minute stuff in the nursery and packing a hospital bag sometime this week! She could be here so soon!
